The History of Liberal Media Bias

The History of Liberal Media Bias

The History of Liberal Media Bias

Sean Hannity’s show on Fox News recently took a look at the history of liberal media bias.

Survey after survey shows most Americans are aware of this bias in the “mainstream” media, but few people realize how far back it goes.

It goes at least as far back as the 1930s when New York Times reporter Walter Duranty received a Pulitzer Prize for running interference for Soviet incompetence and famine. The “mainstream” media has been dressing up America’s enemies since then, and they still do with reports of how wonderful things are in communist Cuba and other Marxist nations.

And of course, there is never any shortage of criticism of the United States from the Leftist media. To them, America is the source of all evil in the world with our imperialistic oppression of the peace-loving people of the world.

Of course, any conservative is mercilessly and without hesitation targeted for complete destruction at any cost whatsoever. No lie is too outrageous, and no uncomfortable fact is too big to be buried. People from Ronald Reagan to Sarah Palin are vilified to stunning degrees by the “mainstream” media in their effort to protect their politicians and their agenda.

One of the most egregious and outrageous examples of media bias was the shooting a few months ago in Arizona of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and several other people. The “mainstream” media literally did not even have a name of the shooter before they were blaming the incident on Sarah Palin, Tea Party patriots, and other conservatives

Media bias takes many forms. It can show in the stories it covers repetitively with micro-focus…and the stories it ignores or quickly dismisses to the public with an air of “Move along, nothing here to see.” It can take the form of using words designed to cast suspicion and doubt on the veracity of conservatives and conservative positions, and words designed to instill confidence and admiration for liberals and liberal positions. It can take the form of scowls and sneers when discussing conservatives and conservative issues, and smiles and positive body language when discussing liberals and liberal issues.

And of course, most observant Americans have realized that–in the eyes of the “mainstream” media–there are only conservative politicians and “moderate” politicians; there are no liberals. This is especially true of scandals. When a Republican or conservative is accused of improper acts, they never fail to tell us that the person is a Republican or conservative; when the improper behavior involves a liberal, we are almost never told what party they belong to or of their political ideology.

There are still some who don’t know about “mainstream” media bias, and of course more than a few Leftists who try to deny it. But we should always keep it foremost in our mind when we read or listen to anything from the media, so that we are on guard for this bias in the form of slant, misinformation, disinformation and overlooked information. Such forethought will help prepare us to see the truth of any situation despite the “mainstream” media’s best efforts to make us think what they want us to think.
